A little about me
Hello, thanks for taking time and looking at my website. I’m Rebekka and you’ve probably guessed I love Fiber. As crazy as it sounds, I’ve always loved it, its been a part of me ever since my nan knitted my first cardie many years ago. Since then I’ve experimented with Knitting, Crochet and Weaving, but most of all I’m at my happiest when Spinning.
I was born in Aberdare and brought up in Penrhiwceiber, a small village in the heart of the South Wales Valleys. I studied textiles and fashion at the Glamorgan Centre of Art and Design, which helped affirm my love of natural fibers.
I’ve been spinning professionally since the end of 2009, producing hand-spun yarns under my “Rebekka Leigh – Hand-spun Yarns from a little House in Wales” brand. I also run a number of workshops and demonstrations throughout the year, teaching groups and individuals the traditional craft and the techniques that accompany it. Techniques such as fleece and fibre preparation, drum and hand-carding and some less traditional art yarn workshops.
